This large river front community is nestled between Plain and Fish Lake on the Chiwawa River, about 30 minutes from downtown Leavenworth. Above all, Chiwawa residents embrace recreation. The community offers easy access to USFS trails, perfect for hiking, biking and snowmobiling which is allowed on the interior roads in the winter. Other Chiwawa River Pines perks include generous lot sizes (typically 1/3 acre or more), community drinking water, and access to the Chiwawa River. A drive through this community feels very alpine in nature, graced by Ponderosa Pines and Douglas Fir trees. This community endured a legal battle over the right to rent their homes and cabins on a nightly/vacation basis. A series of lawsuits ensued.
